Language for Thinking is a weekly intervention that focuses on developing verbal reasoning skills in answering questions with appropriate and accurate information. In each session, children are presented with a picture and short story of an everyday scenario, for example: buying an ice-cream or going down a slide at the park. Questions about the picture are then asked and children’s responses are recorded. Responses can be analysed to help us work out any particular difficulties in answering specific types of questions. There are three different levels of questions that can be targeted depending on the child’s needs and confidence.
